The founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, will file an appeal on February 20 and 21, 2024 in London to avoid extradition to the United States.
“This could be Julian Assange's last chance to avoid extradition to the United States,” the support group “Free Assange” wrote in a statement.
For her part, Assange's wife, Stella Assange, called through social X for a mobilization in front of the court both days in February.
According to what was published on the TELESUR website, the appeal will determine if the founder of WikiLeaks will have more opportunities to defend his case before the national courts of the United Kingdom or if he has exhausted all appeals and will enter the extradition process.
“The United States is trying to convict Julian Assange under the Espionage Act of 1917,” said the founder of the Free Assange campaign, John Rees.
The 52-year-old Australian citizen is accused of having published more than 700,000 confidential documents since 2010 about U.S. military activities in Iraq and Afghanistan that qualify as crimes of international genocide.
