The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, offered statements to the media this Monday, to give details of the actions taken by the Public Ministry (MP) regarding the violent events that occurred in the country between July 28 and 29.

During his statements, the holder of the criminal action recalled that these events left 28 dead, 195 injured, 485 property destroyed.

Saab assured that the arrest of several people is based on different elements of conviction collected through experiences carried out with evidence.

In this regard, he indicated that the MP, together with the auxiliary organs of justice, has 1,104 investigative proceedings, 129 medical examinations for prisoners to protect their health, “for a total of 1,233 actions.”

.

He specified that the persons arrested for these acts will be charged with the crimes of terrorism, resistance to authority, attempted murder, possession of incendiary objects and serious lessons, among others, while reiterating that they cannot be classified as peaceful demonstrators, since in flagrante delicto they were seized: Molotov bombs, fuel bottles and bladed weapons.

Saab refused to allow those arrested so far to be classified as political prisoners and to leave aside the harm caused to the victims.

Finally, he assured that this is part of a yellow communication campaign promoted by the right to destabilize the country.
