The authorities of the state of Zulia launched an Immediate Response Plan, to the damage caused by the torrential rains and hurricane winds in the city of Maracaibo, in order to guarantee care for families in the affected communities.

The deployment included all of the entity's Security Forces, who listened to and served the affected communities.

Regarding the situation, in statements to Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the Secretary of Government, Ángela Fernández, explained that “we are deployed throughout the state, in several parishes that were affected by hurricane winds and rains.”

“From here we tell the people of Zuliano to have peace and quiet. From this moment on, the revolutionary socialist government is working to solve the problems that have arisen,” he said.

He said that, after the climate phenomenon, the regional government established direct contact with citizens to assess the damage and coordinate assistance quickly and efficiently. In addition, resources and crews of workers were sent to mitigate the damage and meet the needs of the population.

The neighbors told VTV the surprise caused by this storm, as a result of climate change. “It's something we didn't expect, it was all of a sudden,” they said, showing the cameras how roofs, poles and other structures were affected and damaged.
