Authorities estimate that more than 11,000 tourists visit Guiana Essequiba during Carnival

More than 11,000 seasonal workers are expected to visit the state of Guayana Esequiba during the Easter holidays, said the governor of the entity, Neil Villamizar, who stressed that the region not only functions as an administrative center, but also emerges as the “capital of joy” of Venezuela.

In this regard, according to a press release, Villamizar highlighted that this estimate exceeds the number of visits registered in 2025 when more than 8,000 tourists arrived in the region.

During a school parade that brought together more than 18 educational institutions and which kicked off the festivities, Villamiza highlighted the importance of keeping regional traditions alive, in addition to sending fraternal greetings to the country with the premise that peace represents the greatest victory for citizens.

“We celebrated the start of Carnival. Boys, girls, men and women enjoy calypso, the traditional music of this region. Nobody takes away their happiness from the people of Venezuela,” he said.

For his part, the mayor of the Sifontes municipality, Vicente Rojas, described this edition as one of the best in the history of the town, stressing that the organizational deployment has a contingent of more than 1,200 personnel, made up of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) and the State Police, who guarantee order during every day off.

Regarding the musical offer, he highlighted that more than 12 calypso groups come on stage to the delight of the audience.
