The families of the Iribarren municipality in Lara and the communities affected by the earthquakes of last June 24 benefit from the redirection of logistical efforts and the formal suspension of the Barquisimeto International Fair in its 2026 edition, a measure announced by local authorities this Thursday, August 13.

The government decision makes it possible to concentrate technical and institutional deployment and assistance supplies (food, equipment and medical supplies) on priority care for vulnerable areas and on the mitigation of damage caused by the seismic emergency.

As an alternative to traditional festivities and within the framework of the 474th anniversary of the “Twilight City”, the municipality will develop the special plan “Barquisimeto Renace in its 474 Years: Culture, Solidarity and Life”, with a program that will run from mid-August to September 14.

This commemorative agenda would focus its actions on the rescue of the historic center, citizen reunion, family recreation and the promotion of the resilience values of the Larense community in the face of adversity.
