President (E) Rodríguez urges rational electricity consumption after a peak in consumption

The President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, stressed that the plan for national energy savings is in effect at a time when the country has the highest levels of electricity consumption and is affecting the electricity sector due to recent earthquakes and weather phenomena.

“15,576 megawatts were demanded. the highest amount in the last 8 years, and we have a savings plan, at a time when we have the highest temperatures. the most intense heat, precisely derived from the Climate Emergency,” stressed the president in charge.

He also called on the People to be aware of the use of electricity and stressed that the public administration is working under energy saving schedules.

“The savings plan is to appease demand while we are dedicated to recovering the Megawatts that the earthquakes removed from the National Electricity System, but whose increase is not only a product of the Climate Emergency but of national economic growth,” he said.

During the signing of the addendum to the contract between the state company CORPOELEC and the energy company IMSA for the completion of the generators in Macagua and Tocoma, in the lower Caroní region, to strengthen the National Electricity System (SEN), he assured that these works are aimed at the economic development of Venezuela.

“The Tocoma project and the Caruachí power plant were designed to provide more electricity to the economic development of Venezuela,” said the president at this event, which included the participation of the Minister of People's Power for Electric Energy; Rolando Alcalá; the sectoral vice-president of Public Works and Services, Juan Ramírez; and the president of CORPOELEC, Juan Crisóstomo Fernández.
