Last Sunday, Pavel Muraveiko, head of the General Staff of Belarus, in statements to the state television channel ONT, stated that his country will not hesitate to use tactical nuclear weapons if its sovereignty is threatened.
“We have learned to use these weapons. We know how to use them with confidence. We are capable of doing it and, you can be sure, we will do it if a threat is created to the sovereignty and independence of our country,” said Muravéiko
The first Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus, also considered the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in his country as a deterrent to aggression against the nation.
In this regard, he denounced the deployment of 10 tactical battalion groups of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), composed of 20,000 uniformed personnel, in countries of the European Union (EU) bordering Belarus, and asserted that this causes concern to Minsk
