The Berlin Senate has marked a milestone in its environmental policy by approving a comprehensive package of 67 measures designed to transform the German capital into a model of sustainability.
The plan seeks to reduce carbon dioxide (CO_2) emissions by 25 million tons per year by the end of this decade, accelerating the ecological transition of the metropolis.
With this package, Berlin reinforces its commitment to international climate objectives. The main goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 70% by the year 2030, taking as a reference the levels recorded in 1990.
The strategy is based on the modernization of urban infrastructure and energy efficiency.
The plan not only includes regulations, but also a robust investment scheme. The commitment to industrial decarbonization in 2027 will be the final pillar to ensure that the German capital meets its reduction quotas before the end of the decade.
With this decision, Berlin is positioned at the forefront of European cities in the fight against climate change, prioritizing efficiency in the home and cleaning in the industry.
