In the state of Carabobo, the Bolivarian Government activated a strategic plan for the recovery and preservation of natural areas located in the coastal strip of the region, whose purpose is to strengthen the protection of marine-coastal ecosystems, under the organization of the Government of the entity through the Secretariat of Land Management, Environment and Natural Resources (SOTARN).
During a working day in the municipality of Puerto Cabello, held at the Port Authority of the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA), regional authorities and representatives of the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism defined joint actions focused on environmental education, coastal sanitation and the control of invasive species.
The Secretary of Spatial Planning, Environment and Natural Resources, Alan Delgado, explained that “these actions are part of the 'Costa Viva' Project, an articulated work between the regional government, national institutions, ecological organizations and communities, which reflects the firm commitment to the preservation of the environment, the promotion of sustainable development and the application of public policies that protect our natural spaces.”
Among the planned lines of action, awareness and sanitation days stand out as part of World Beach Day, to be held in September, activities in which the active participation of volunteers, tourists and organized communities is expected.
In addition, an intervention aimed at the eradication of lionfish (Pterois volitans), an exotic species that represents a serious threat to the region's marine biodiversity, was proposed.
This plan is part of the strategic lines of the Plan of the Seven Transformations promoted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and led in Carabobo by Governor Rafael Lacava, with the firm purpose of guaranteeing the protection and responsible use of natural resources for present and future generations.
