Bolivarian Government advances in the renovation of the Vargas de La Guaira Hospital

The person responsible for the plan for the Sectorial Vice Presidency of Public Works and Services, Alirio Antequera, reported that renovation work at the Doctor José María Vargas Regional General Hospital, in the state of La Guaira, continues to progress with the recovery of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for adults.
During the inspection carried out at the healthcare center, Antequera indicated that the renovation is part of the first phase of the Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Hospital Infrastructure Recovery Plan, according to a recent note in Última Noticias.
Antequera explained that in the ICU area, wall cladding, friezes, adapting lighting to medical standards, air conditioning and expanding beds are being carried out. In addition, he specified that the tasks are part of a care scheme in simultaneous phases.
He noted that progress is currently being made in the waterproofing of 8,000 square meters of roofs, a process that is expected to be completed in a period of three to four weeks. At the same time, he noted that the pumping system, water storage, electrical backup, air conditioning and elevators are also being intervened.
For his part, the hospital's deputy administrative director, Yoanny Herrera, highlighted that the health center treats a monthly average of 8,000 patients between emergencies and outpatient visits, in addition to performing nearly 400 surgeries per month.
He also added that the works will make it possible to reactivate areas such as adult therapy, hospitalization for surgery and surgical subspecialties to strengthen the quality of medical care.
