The Ministry of the People's Power of Public Works and the Government of the state of La Guaira, this Friday, May 08, handed over the refurbished La Atlántida elevator in Catia La Mar, the second work of its kind to be completed in the state during 2026.

The 250 linear meter metal structure was covered with Guanoco asphalt to improve road safety in one of the state's most congested arteries.

The event was led by the sector vice-president of Public Works, Juan José Ramírez, who explained that the intervention included placing Guanoco asphalt on the road surface “to recover the friction between the vehicles and this metal structure, which, due to normal wear and tear, required rehabilitation.”

He assured that the work will provide greater safety to cars and motorcycles that travel daily through this road junction.

For his part, Governor José Alejandro Terán recalled that this is the second major rehabilitation in less than three months, after the one on the Zamora High, delivered before Holy Week.

“When I was a child, these works didn't exist and one lasted three hours to enter or leave Catia La Mar. The Revolution built this elevation and today we are rehabilitating it,” he said.

The regional president emphasized that improving roads is not just cement or asphalt, “it's about life, well-being, happiness, family time.”

The renovated elevator is located on La Atlántida Avenue, the main road that connects with the communities of Carayaca, Catia La Mar and Urimare. Authorities reported that crews from the ministry and the government worked 24 hours to complete the work.
