This Sunday morning, Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán Square was inaugurated and the bust of the leader of Venezuelan science was unveiled at the facilities of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), an event that took place as part of the honors to the outstanding scientist on the route to the National Pantheon.
The event was chaired by the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, who said that “today we have the greatest reference for man in the 20th century, in the science of the world, whose results are used today in the study of deep space, in aerospace engineering, in microelectronics, in biophysics, in neuroscience and much more,” VTV reported.
He asserted that “in each one of you: scientists, scientists, innovators, there is also something about Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán, because we feel very Venezuelan, committed to science, to Venezuela, to a daily work that becomes a life project, because we believe that science is open, plural, democratic, because we deeply believe in a Venezuela that transforms every day.”
The country's scientific community pays homage in the burning chapel to Dr. Fernández-Morán until his ashes are taken to the National Pantheon as a tribute to his valuable legacy in medicine.
