The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, led by the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez, invited the Venezuelan people to participate in the VIII Cultural Festival with the Peoples of Africa.
The festival will take place at the Tiuna El Fuerte Cultural Park, this Thursday, May 28, from 10:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the afternoon, Gil said in a post on his Instagram account.
Gil asserted that in this significant event, tribute is paid to the brotherhood between Venezuela and Africa, as well as to the precious ancient ties that are reflected in “our identity, culture, gastronomy, music and the Venezuelan feeling.”
He indicated that together with diplomatic representatives from the African continent, they will also commemorate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the African Union, a symbol of the unity of the Global South and a step towards a shared future for all of Africa, which represents the future of humanity.
Gil recalled that Venezuela is a country of African descent. “57% of our population has a origin and we claim that value,” he emphasized.
The Venezuelan foreign minister said that Venezuela is closer to Africa than to other continents: “For our blood, for our culture, for our drums, for our cultural regions and artistic expressions.”
Gil said that in the meantime there are many projects underway with African countries.
The Bolivarian Government thus reaffirms its commitment to peace diplomacy, the recognition of the Afro-Venezuelan roots and the strengthening of fraternal relations with the peoples of the world.
