The Bolivarian Government, through the Government of the state of Zulia, launched the Cayapa Health Plan at the facilities of the Western Hematological Institute, also known as the Blood Bank, located in Maracaibo.

The governor of the state of Zulia, Luis Caldera, through his Instagram account, reported that comprehensive intervention has as its main objective the recovery, equipment and modernization of this healthcare center, which is positioned as the main reference point for the processing of blood products throughout western Venezuela.

“We provide solutions to transform this reference space for the entire Venezuelan West, guaranteeing the best care and strengthening of life,” he said.

For his part, the director of the Western Hematology Institute, Jesús Quintero, explained that the donor care area, office area, transfusion areas, and other spaces are currently being refurbished in order to improve the quality of care for patients.

In addition, the region's single health authority, Luz Mely Caldera, indicated that the rehabilitation of these spaces will increase patient care capacity, as well as processing capacity, and increase the scientific capacity provided by the Institute to the entire west of the country.

“It is a beautiful and very important work for the entire system because it allows us to provide hematological care coverage to all hospitals and health centers in the state of Zulia,” he said.
