Bolivarian Government promotes the deployment of comprehensive care for mining women in El Callao

With the firm intention of strengthening community organization and Popular Power, the Ministry of Ecological Mining Development and Basic Industries and the Ministry for Women and Gender Equality organized a Special Day of Medical and Social Care aimed at mining women in the La Fábrica sector, in the municipality of El Callao in the state of Bolívar.

The activity was accompanied by the Minister of Ecological Mining Development and Basic Industries, Héctor Silva; the Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Yelitze Santaella; the Single Authority for Women in the entity, Deputy Zulay Betancourt, representatives of the Mining Brigades and spokespersons of the Great Venezuela Women's Mission.

During the day, families in the sector accessed health services that included specialties such as General and Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Traumatology, Physiotherapy, Gynecology, Humanized Childbirth, Dentistry, Ultrasound, Electrocardiogram, Pediatrics, Immunization, Malariology, among others.

In addition, institutions such as the Venezuelan Social Security Institute (IVSS) and the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CMDNA), joined forces to provide advice, protection and effective responses to families in situations of vulnerability.

In addition, the National Institute of Land Transportation (INTT) was present at the site, allowing drivers in the area to regularize their vehicle procedures. In the same way, an Expoferia for Local Entrepreneurs was installed, which served as a showcase to boost the community's economy.

For their part, the children enjoyed a recreational agenda, where they had inflatable mattresses, face painting, and toy deliveries.

In carrying out the activity, and in compliance with the instructions of the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, the rehabilitation of the “Socialist Warriors” Mission Base, aimed at addressing the specific needs of the sector and adjacent communities, was also shown.

Minister Silva pointed out that the Venezuelan State seeks to continue to advance in organization and productivity. “President Delcy Rodríguez has given an express instruction: That production also returns to social welfare for all mining populations, as is the case of El Callao,” he said.

The also president of the Venezuelan Mining Corporation (CVM) reported that thanks to the work being done with the government of the state of Bolivar, the hospital in El Callao is being intervened. In addition, work will continue to ensure that mining production is transformed into the good life of Venezuelans.

During her speech, Minister Santaella proposed greater attention to women in mining communities, as one of the priority areas for the National Government. Santaella said that this support will be for the formation and independence of mining companies, as one of the fundamental pillars of society.

In this regard, Esther Figueroa, representative of the Mining Brigades, said that “mining women are not those who work directly in a mine but are those hairdressers, manicurists and coffee makers who live their daily lives in this place”.
