Bolivarian Government re-established road communication between Mérida and the states of Trujillo and Barinas

This Tuesday, July 08, the Minister of Popular Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, announced that Mérida already has communication with the states of Trujillo and Barinas, through its main exit, El Vigía, after being cut off by land from these regions due to heavy rains in the Andean region.

The information was provided in statements to the 360º program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, in which he highlighted the commitment of the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, to continue working for the welfare of the people of Merida in the face of the arrival of the rains.

Velásquez Araguayán pointed out that this action was achieved through the work carried out by the Bolivarian Government in the state of Merida. “The prioritized emergency works, the 25 points of damage to the entire road, 63% of the road affected by the rains, that phase is now complete. Now comes the reconstruction phase,” he emphasized.

He also added that this was achieved with the union of a group of professionals from all Ministries and government entities, who were involved in this task to provide an effective response to the People of Mérida.

Currently, this team also has technical advice, personnel specialized in bridges, roads and river channeling, so that this type of situation does not happen again in the region.

“In a matter of hours we gave him connectivity through El Vigía, because we had the alert that in three days the fuel would run out in Mérida. Therefore, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez instructed to accelerate these works,” he stressed.

The minister explained that work is currently under way on the mitigation and reconstruction of the Trasandina, which celebrates its 100th anniversary on July 24, so that it is a road that has the highest quality for the comfort of the town of Mérida.
