With great enthusiasm, the People's Power, together with regional and local authorities, celebrated with traditional dances and an original play, the reopening of Plaza Guaicaipura.
Governor Elio Serrano highlighted the importance of space for recreation, culture and the preservation of local history. “It is satisfying to observe this work, the recovery of these spaces and the remodeling that keeps us excited and happy, because we meet a requirement of the Guaicaipuran people,” said Serrano, who recalled his experiences as a youth in the area and how the square was a point of reference.
He also stressed that the renovation includes an amphitheater for cultural activities, bathrooms, WiFi service, 24-hour surveillance and a digital module with Artificial Intelligence that has the Guaicaipura Indian as a virtual assistant.
For his part, the mayor of the Guaicaipura municipality, Farith Fraija, expressed his joy at providing the city with such a significant space that it will be ready for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.
Yolimar Harris, spokeswoman for the Pioneers Community Council of La Bermúdez, offered a historical perspective of the square, recalling its two dates and locations of inauguration, being one of the oldest in Venezuela. “Unfortunately, the square had become an impassable place, and this reopening is a dream of a long time ago,” he said. Harris celebrated the recovery of this important space for the community.
