The Minister of Popular Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, said that the Bolivarian Government is repairing the structure of the elevated one located in La Candelaria, which connects to Andrés Bello Avenue, in the Libertador municipality, in Caracas.
Early this Wednesday, Velásquez Araguayán, accompanied by the head of Government of the Capital
District, Nahún Fernández, carried out an inspection of the elevation that
suddenly suffered a collapse in the access ramp, “which is
already being investigated to find the causes that caused it.”
The Minister reported that the repairs
have already been made, it is necessary to supplement and replace the
tension guards to prevent these damages from continuing to occur and a tragedy occurs.
Through a post
on his Instagram account, he explained that during an evaluation carried out
by the technical team of the Ministry of Transport, they noticed that the
tension rod that connected the bridge's fins are missing. “It's not common for a
bridge that has been built to all engineering standards to not have
these safety mechanisms.”
In that regard, he stated
that, following the guidelines of President Nicolás Maduro, they will inspect
the 7 elevations that the city of Caracas has, plus all the bridges that
currently exist. “We don't rule out any act of sabotage to create anxiety
in the community.”
“We are here as a single
team, to give an immediate response to the people and ensure
effective traffic for drivers,” he said.
