Bolivarian Government strengthens strategies to control yellow fever

At the headquarters of the University of Health Sciences (UCS) “Hugo Chávez Frías”, located in Caracas, the videoconference called “Yellow Fever in Venezuela: Current Situation, Alert and Strategic Response” was held.

The purpose of the meeting was to unify criteria and strengthen epidemiological barriers throughout the country to prevent and control the spread of this disease.

The activity was led by the Minister of Popular Power for Health, Nuramy Gutiérrez, together with the Deputy Minister of Ambulatory Care Networks, Noly Fernández; the Deputy Minister of Collective Health Networks , Magda Magris; the Deputy Minister of Integral Health, Rosalbina Hurtado; and the rector of the UCS, Dr. Carlos Alvarado.

Simultaneously and online, the sole health authorities of the states, directors of epidemiology, those responsible for vaccination, as well as the authorities of all the state centers of the UCS and student spokespersons from each region of the country participated.

In this regard, Minister Gutiérrez highlighted the critical importance of this approach and announced the holding of a theoretical-practical workshop course on the clinical-epidemiological control and management of yellow fever.

For his part, the rector Carlos Alvarado presented the programmatic content of this training, which places special emphasis on the community approach as a key tool for prevention and early detection in the most vulnerable localities.
