} Under the premise “Don't be afraid of the result, be afraid to be late”, the Guaicaipura Mayor's Office has launched an ambitious Municipal Plan for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer, whose goal is to guarantee 2,500 completely free cytologies to women in the jurisdiction.

This massive deployment began successfully at the +Health center in the El Paso housing estate, in Los Teques, where a total of 93 women from different communities received specialized medical care, marking the beginning of an unprecedented offensive in the city to save lives through timely diagnosis.

The launch of this goal of 2,500 preventive examinations is of urgent relevance when compared to the global reality of the World Health Organization (WHO), which places cervical cancer as the fourth most common type of cancer in women:

Every two minutes, a woman dies worldwide from this disease. Around 90% of these deaths occur in developing countries, where access to private healthcare is costly, turning a lack of resources into a death sentence.

Dailyn Mota, coordinating secretary for Good Living and Social Protection, who oversaw the operation, stressed that the goal set by the local government seeks to break that economic barrier. “We are complying with the policies promoted by our mayor Farith Fraija and First Lady Jenny Ahumada. These 2,500 free cytologies are 2,500 life opportunities. A timely diagnosis changes everything; no woman in Guaicaipura should be left unprotected because she can't afford a private clinic.”

The deployment was also supervised by Carmen López, coordinator of the Maternal Route in the Altos Mirandinos Axis; Tahirí Montilla, president of the Municipal Institute of Health and Zorelys Figueroa, president of the Municipal Institute for Women.

For the beneficiaries, knowing that the plan will be extended free of charge to thousands of women represents historic relief in the midst of current economic difficulties.

Carmen Mogollón, a retired resident of the Ramo Verde sector, expressed visibly moved: “We really need this. As the situation stands, we don't have the money to pay for a private doctor and for me, as a retiree, what I earn is barely enough for me. They didn't charge me anything here, the service was wonderful.”

In the same way, Ladys Mejías, a resident of San Pedro parish, highlighted the institutional support: “This operation helps us a lot because everything is free and we don't have to invest money that we don't have. We thank the mayor and the Women's Institute for truly serving our people.”

On this first day, the medical deployment provided diagnosis to women from San Pedro, El Paso, Ramo Verde, Caracas Old Highway - Los Teques, La Estrella and Mal Paso, as well as to the organized inhabitants of the Maisanta Vive and Guaicaipura Communes 2019.

The Municipal Plan will continue to cover the different parishes until it reaches the goal of 2,500 cytologies, bringing to each home the central message of the campaign: Don't be afraid of the result, be afraid of being late.
