The People of Bolivia are holding a general strike for 11 consecutive days, in a growing wave of protests and road blockades to denounce the economic deterioration, political tension and social discontent accumulated after the first adjustment measures implemented by the Government of Rodrigo Paz.

Peasant unions, transporters, labor organizations and even political sectors are intensifying mobilizations in key regions such as La Paz, Oruro and Cochabamba, and some are even beginning to openly demand the resignation of Paz, whose management is marked by corruption and the increase in the price of basic services.

The department of La Paz accounts for 47 of the 60 blockades reported nationwide. The traffic interruption hits hard on three of the country's nine departments. The peasant sectors warned that they will not retreat and that they are prepared to resist any attempt at eviction.

Among the reasons for the protests, there is also the sale of poor quality fuel at twice its previous price, causing mechanical damage to thousands of vehicles and an internal increase in the cost of transportation.
