The International Anti-Fascist Chapter Bolivia issued a statement this Tuesday, May 6, demanding respect for the parental authority of the mother of the Venezuelan girl Maikelys Antonella Espinosa Bernal, kidnapped in the United States, and demanding her immediate family reunification, the Telesur website reported.
In a statement released to the news agency Prensa Latina, the organization denounced the use of migrant children as “hostages of imperialism” and called for their return to Venezuela.
The text of the letter calls for an end to the fascist policies applied against migrant children and demands the closure of extraterritorial detention centers, which it compared to the death camps of Nazi fascism in the Second World War.
“We call for national and international solidarity around the world to speak up and demand justice,” the statement concludes.
In addition, the International Anti-Fascist chapter of Cairo, Egypt, has also condemned the kidnapping of the minor.
They consider that this act reflects the true spirit of fascism and demonstrates the disconnection of U.S. immigration authorities with human rights.
The Egyptian organization expressed its solidarity with the girl's family and supported the measures taken by the Venezuelan authorities to recover her.
They also called on the international community and civil organizations to press and raise their voices in defense of humanity and truth.
From Caracas, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, addressed the case in his program “With Maduro +”, this Monday, May 5, in which he reported that the little girl was separated from her parents by the United States government and demanded her immediate release, in the name of the rights of her legitimate mother.
The president recalled that this outcry was also heard last May 1st, during the Workers' Day celebration in the Venezuelan capital.
Maduro linked the kidnapping of Maikelys to the migratory waves registered between 2017 and 2021, as well as in the period 2023, the latter marked mainly by economic causes.
He pointed out that Washington must recognize the parental authority of the mother and return thousands of children kidnapped in the United States, a fact that he described as “a new stain on the history” of the North American country.
