Last Monday, Brazil's Attorney General's Office (PGR) asked the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to sentence former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro to more than 40 years in prison for attempted coup d'etat, armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law and damage to federal property.
These charges against Bolsorano are part of the closing arguments presented in the criminal case investigating the attempted institutional destabilization planned by the former president's inner circle.
According to the PGR, the extreme right wing headed a criminal organization aimed at discrediting the electoral system, inciting attacks on democratic institutions and articulating exceptional measures.
