The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, said that there will be “swift punishment” and that violent demonstrators who attacked Muslim communities will fall to “the full weight of the law”.
The protests of the extreme right sector are due to the fact that three girls were stabbed last week in the northwest of England, in which social media users accused an Islamist who had just joined the country of the crime, a rumor that was denied by the local police on the grounds that the perpetrator is a 17-year-old Welsh youth.
“ Whatever the apparent motivation, this is not a protest, it's pure violence and we will not tolerate attacks on mosques or our Muslim communities,” said Starmer.
According to what was published by the Fuser web portal, the extremist sector took advantage of this incident against minors to cause disorder in towns and cities.
For her part, Interior Minister Yvette Cooper said that demonstrators had felt “emboldened by this moment to stoke racial hatred.”
