“What happened here on April 11 and 12 happened before in Ecuador and
the vice-president stayed as President, the same thing happened in Bolivia and Argentina, but that didn't happen here in Venezuela,” recalled Deputy Diosdado Cabello Rondón.
On the occasion of commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the coup d'etat of April 11
and 12, 2002, from the Protocol Chamber of the Legislative Palace, Cabello Rondón said
that when President Hugo Chávez decided to appoint him as vice-president, he assumed it with all responsibility.
“I was 38 years old, a boy, but age is not an obstacle
to assuming responsibility as it should be,” said the deputy.
In that sense, he maintained that when María León left for the
guerrillas she was 20 years old. “We were sworn in at that age, and at 28
we were in prison. Age is not an obstacle, we were preparing for the day when they decided to do what they were going to do, because the media campaign had
already started”
