This Thursday, February 29, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, highlighted that Commander Hugo Chávez turned Venezuela into a beacon for free peoples.
“Commander Chávez expressed himself here and turned Venezuela, the Bolivarian Homeland, into a beacon and guide for free peoples, because for a people to be free it must necessarily be anti-imperialist,” Cabello said during the Great Caravan for the 20 Years of Commander Chávez's Anti-Imperialist Declaration.
In that sense, he recalled when the Leader of the Revolution met with the People in the Botanical Garden to declare this country anti-imperialist. “20 years ago we met here with the Giant Chávez, he took off a straitjacket worn by the People of Venezuela, here in this space Commander Chávez announced to the world and told the world, in very simple words, that in Venezuela there is a Revolution and also by its anti-imperialist nature, a Revolution that does not surrender to any empire,” he emphasized.
He recalled how many at the time criticized Chávez and even looked at him ugly for that statement, “but they didn't expect that the Commander was reading and analyzing what the Peoples have been saying for centuries: That the Peoples want to be free.” In addition, he reaffirmed that later the Revolution carried more strength and ideology, when he announced that this was a socialist revolution, as well as a Bolivarian one, he was putting the point where it was.
He also took the opportunity to extend a loving greeting to the people of Venezuela.
