The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, denounced the existence of international disinformation strategies aimed at distorting the memory and legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez.

During his speech in the popular mobilization on the occasion of the victory of October 7, 2012, Cabello warned that the television series developed in Colombia responds to a far-reaching plan to influence future generations and undermine the historical foundations of Chavism.

“They carried out a disinformation campaign because they wanted to erase and discredit the historical figure of Commander Chávez. Back in Colombia they made a series, but not to be shown 15 or 20 years ago; no, they made that film to be shown in 20 or 25 years, so that people believe that this was recorded at the time”, warned Cabello Rondón.

Cabello also reflected on the political trajectory of the revolutionary process and the perception of the opposition sectors in the face of complex conjunctural moments. “We have historically been able to turn defeats into victories. They assumed that the departure of Commander Chávez was the end of the Bolivarian Revolution; they took it for granted that in the face of some obstacles and defeats that we have admitted, the Revolution was over,” he said.

In this regard, Cabello confirmed the resilience of the popular movement and its adherence to the Bolivarian and Chavista ideals as a fundamental axis of political resistance. “We are children of Chávez and Bolivar, and we know when to get up and when to keep fighting until we win,” he said.
