The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, said on Monday that the Amnesty Law, proposed by the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez to the National Assembly (AN), must be based on justice.

“It's a law that must be based on justice,” Cabello emphasized during the weekly press conference of the red awning, recalling that the AN had an opposition majority between 2015 and 2020 and did not approve an instrument of this type. “So much straw that they talked, in five years they haven't passed any Amnesty Law. So, today many people are even funny when they ask that even drug traffickers be involved in the Amnesty Law,” he criticized.

He pointed out that for the approval of this law “everything is going to be reviewed (...) it has to do with coexistence, with peace, tranquility, it's not a page to go through and forget everything, no. There will be beneficiaries and there will be no beneficiaries, as in everything.”

Cabello stressed that the revolutionary caucus in Parliament will support the law, which will be discussed, “in accordance with the time and procedures that the Assembly has for the approval of laws”, to “support national coexistence”.

“The only thing we have asked: that hopefully they understand that they should resume politics, do real politics, not look for shortcuts because that would force us to continue acting on the basis of the Constitution and the law against those who want to violate this Constitution,” he warned.
