The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reaffirmed that the 28th of July Movement was created to promote Constitutional Reform, which aims to update our Magna Carta to the new times.

“There is already a State Commission for this Reform and it is up to them to present the proposal, but we created the 28th of July Movement, a national movement to promote Constitutional Reform, Cabello said at a PSUV press conference.

In that regard, he recalled that our current Constitution was approved by the People in 1999, then in 2007 an attempt was made to make a reform and it was not approved, so an amendment was taken and things remained pending.

“But in addition, with all modernity, it must be adapted to the new times, without losing the substance of this Constitution, because in the political and social rights of peoples we will hardly find a similar one, but we must update it to the new times and for that reason the Reform,” he said.

In the same way, he reiterated that the July 28 Movement was created in homage to Commander Hugo Chávez and to the revolutionary victory of the 2024 presidential elections.
