The first vice-president of the United Socialist
Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, announced
that the structures of the Red Awning party must meet on Thursday, March 7 to make
their proposal
“The
269,069 street structures must be brought together across the country. The four
colleagues who are in each street structure must hold their
assembly,” Cabello explained during the press conference of the National Directorate of the
PSUV.
He also explained that on Friday the 8th that
same assembly must be held in the 46,638 registered communities and on Saturday
the 9th the meeting must be repeated in the 15,850 Hugo Chávez Battle Units
(UBCH) across the country.
“We have our
democratic mechanism, our way of choosing our candidate or candidate for any
election,” said Cabello.
In this regard, Cabello reiterated that
according to the call on March 7, 8 and 9, the streets, communities
and the UBCH will make their proposals from the ground up, “in a demonstration of internal
democracy of who will be their candidate for the elections.”
“The bases will say by consensus,
I have no doubt who it will be, because our people are very clear about the titanic effort that brother President Nicolás Maduro has
been making at the head of the presidency of
the Republic, fighting attacks, sanctions, blockade, and leading this people to victory every time we have
the opportunity,” he said.
The first vice-president of the PSUV maintained that, regardless of the enemy in front of us, we have been fighting against imperialism for 25 years and imperialism has been unable to deal with us, “first with Commander Hugo Chávez, now with our brother president Nicolás Maduro.”
