The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reported that the red awning will be added to the second phase of the National Pilgrimage, which begins this Tuesday, May 19, by various peoples across the country.

“This is not an activity of the party, the party joins, the party joins, but this is not an activity of the party, the party is one of those that will participate, it is one of those that will be there,” he said during the PSUV press conference.

He also explained that this new phase is aimed at economic and productive sectors. “Let me explain, if we go to the state of Sucre we go with the fishermen, if we go to the state of Guárico it will surely be with the agricultural producers in the area, if you go to Zulia it will surely be with the oil issue,” he said.

Cabello specified that the initiative will maintain an inclusive and territorial character, integrating diverse social actors in each region. “This does not imply that the rest of the sectors are not going to be there, no, on the contrary, we talk about it being the greatest strength, not leaving out the greatest strength of each state and trying to touch on all the fronts that people express themselves,” he said.

He also highlighted the scope of the first phase of the pilgrimage and the participation of multiple sectors of the country. “You listen out there, out there you launched opposition to some extremist sectors that want to copy the pilgrimage. If they want to copy it, it's because this stuck with them... people joined who want to live in peace and who know the damage it has done to our country, the issue of sanctions and the blockade,” he said.

At the same time, he reaffirmed that the second phase will be organized into three major national routes that will converge to Caracas and will last longer, including visits to several towns per state. “One that comes from the south, east, to Caracas; one that comes from the Andes, the Llanos, to Caracas; and one that comes from Zulia and the entire Midwest to Caracas,” he explained.
