“This country lives on Venezuelans and Venezuelan women, we don't live on Chevron, that's a license for a company not for Venezuela,” said the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, after being questioned about the reactivation of the work of the North American company in the country.
In this regard, Cabello added that there are people who intend to promote a false campaign against the country. “They (Chevron) are taking oil from Venezuela and they have to pay for it. Here they stopped working and production did not fall and will not fall... That's the campaign against our country.”
On July 24, the news about a new license granted to Chevron to expand its operations in Venezuela was confirmed.
In this regard, President Nicolás Maduro specified that the US company “was informed of the granting of licenses to continue its operations in Venezuela” and that, after receiving that notification, representatives of Chevron contacted Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez directly. According to the president, “she ratified Chevron, as we say to all international firms and companies that work in Venezuela: welcome to work.”
