The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party
of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, held a press
conference this Wednesday to send instructions and guidelines to the bases of the red
awning, regarding the announcement of the electoral calendar.
In this regard, Cabello questioned whether opposition leaders disagree with the date, because “
they have been asking for elections for about 6 years,
the CNE (National Electoral Council) comes out with the date of
July 28 and now they say no, that date is very uncomfortable, very soon.”
He also recalled that in Venezuela the CNE is the one who dictates the
rules of the electoral game, which “yesterday, all its full
rectors, approved unanimously, announced this calendar, which, in
addition to July 28, has dates and milestones.”
In this regard, he explained that from March 18 to
April 16, a new day of registration begins, new registrants, and changes of
residence; “anyone who processes between March 18 and
April 16 will have the right to exercise their vote in accordance with the provisions of the law.”
While “from March
21 to March 25, all candidates register, apply
electronically and receive a certificate; this formalizes their
registration with the National Electoral Council,” he said.
With regard to the date stipulated by the
electoral body for the campaign, he indicated that it will be from July 4 to 25, since “we have our
structure, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela will be
deployed throughout Venezuela in particular tasks,
so that July 28 will arrive having completed all the tasks
assigned to it.”
