Venezuela will not allow anyone to usurp its territory and will defend it, said the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, in the face of recent provocations by the government of Guyana and ExxonMobil.
“They think we're playing. The Essequibo is ours and is respected; we are not going to allow anyone to usurp it,” said Cabello during the usual weekly press conference of the red awning, where he explained that Venezuela “doesn't care” about the recent pronouncement of some former presidents of the region on Venezuela's position in the case of the Essequibo.
In this regard, he denied false allegations about the alleged incursion of a Bolivarian Navy vessel into Guyana's territorial waters and denounced provocations by that country's military forces.
“The Guyanese army and the servant of ExxonMobil, who are president, have tried to provoke our Armed Forces. They should remember that when they provoke this country, 200 years can pass and we will not relax. Don't mess with Venezuela because we don't mess with anyone,” he stressed.
