CANTV deploys optical fiber to connect 600 users in Barcelona

The National Anonymous Telephone Company of Venezuela (CANTV) began construction of optical ports in the Portugal sector of Barcelona, Simón Bolívar municipality of the state of Anzoátegui, with the objective of soon connecting nearly 600 homes, businesses and public institutions through the Aba Ultra service.

The technical deployment, according to a press release from the telephone company, directly benefits the Telecommunications Technical Board (MTT) “The Force is the Union”, made up of the La Gruta San Felipe Neri and Cacique Guaicaipura communes.

In this first phase of the project, the company's crews carry out tasks of laying and merging approximately 16 kilometers of optical fiber, as well as working tables with the People's Power to coordinate the connection process in different sectors of the community.

The actions cover the areas of Portugal Arriba and Abajo, Barrio Obrero, Guamachito and Raúl Leoni Avenue, specifically on Lino, Libertad and Juncal streets. María Navarro, spokesperson for the MTTStrength is the Union”, highlighted the coordination between the organized community and CANTV to advance the technological modernization of the sector.

The project is part of the National Telecommunications Modernization Plan, aimed at promoting the switch from copper networks to GPON technology, with the purpose of offering greater stability and connection speed to users.
