Carabobo celebrates 80th anniversary of the victory of the Russian people in the Great Patriotic War

With a wreath and special concert, the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet People and the Red Army in the Great Patriotic War, following the defeat of Nazism by the Soviet Union in the Second World War, was celebrated.
The day began with the official ceremony of Flower Offerings in front of the monument commemorating the victory in the Battle of Leningrad, in the Bicentennial Square in Valencia; after the official act of placing offerings, the entourage toured the spaces of the “José Rafael Pocaterra” Museum House, in whose Patria Mestiza Room, the exhibition of drawings made by boys and girls from the Educational Zone of Carabobo was inaugurated , about the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Later, the distinguished visitors went to the Municipal Theater of Valencia to share the special presentation of the Granada Group, cultural ambassadors of Russia, who visit the country as part of the commemoration of this historic date.
The president of the Foundation for Culture of Valencia (Fundacultura), Guillermo Vizcaya, highlighted the relevance of this event, which reflects the solid union existing between the peoples of Venezuela and Russia.
“In the name of our governor Rafael Lacava, Mayor Dina Castillo and our president Nicolás Maduro, from Valencia we join the commemorative events that are taking place around the world to honor those who gave their lives for the freedom of the planet, because they stopped the advance of Nazism in the world,” he said.
For her part, the Cultural and Educational Attaché of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Venezuela, Alexandra Abramova, thanked the mayor's office of Valencia and the government of the state of Carabobo for the commemorative event and the support for the consolidation of ties between the two sister peoples.
“We want to thank the Venezuelan people, the mayor's office of Valencia and the Government of Carabobo, for this very moving act, this tradition has existed in Russia for many years, to make the offering on the occasion of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, we greatly appreciate this contribution of the Venezuelan people to our tradition,” he said.
He also explained that “it is very symbolic that this act of the offering takes place here every year, with the contribution of the authorities and it is very symbolic that today the president of Venezuela is in our country, Russia, accompanying our people in the celebration of this important date for us.”
