The Mayor's Office of Caracas, through the Municipal Superintendency of Administration and Revenue (SUMAR), reminded taxpayers who are domiciled or resident in the Libertador municipality, that they have until March 31 of this year, to declare and pay the Vehicle Tax.
In its publication on its portal, SUMAR explains that it is a simple process, which varies depending on whether the taxpayer is already registered or is new.
In this regard, they must enter the official portal https://caracas.sigat.net/, verifying that they are on the correct platform of the Mayor's Office of Caracas and view the same icon.
For regular taxpayers who are already registered, the process is approved immediately. When entering the platform, they must go to the vehicle section, click on the license plate of the registered vehicle, select a new declaration and the year to be declared, in this case 2026. Make the respective payment from your bank and then upload the data to the platform.
In the case of new taxpayers in the Libertador municipality of Caracas, they must register their profile, then upload the vehicle data, attaching the following files in pdf format to the system: property title, driving license or purchase and sale document and the payment of the tax for the year 2025, no matter if it was made in another municipality.
He specifies that this process requires a few days to be approved, so it is important not to wait until March 31 to complete it, in order to avoid an extemporaneous payment, that is, outside the payment period defined for taxes.
The calculation of the Vehicle Tax in Caracas is determined according to its category and the payment will be fixed at the exchange rate of the Dynamic Account Unit (UCD) referenced for the highest-valued currency published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), which can only be paid in bolivars through digital platforms. Cash is not accepted.
SUMAR has digital platforms and social networks where there are tutorials and step-by-step information to carry out the procedures precisely: Instagram sumar_official_ and Tiktok sumar_ficial as well as a remote assistance number via Telegram 0424.275.38.69.
The above-mentioned Superintendency places at your disposal the Taxpayer Assistance Directorate, located on the ground floor of the Glorieta building, available for any contingency you may submit on the platform.
In this regard, SUMAR highlights that the Mayor's Office of Caracas is working to recover tax culture, seeking that employees understand that their contributions improve infrastructure and public spaces for the benefit of all.
