Carlos Alvarado was appointed as the new president of IVSS

The Minister of the Popular Power for Health, Nuramy Gutiérrez González, announced the appointment of Dr. Carlos Alvarado as president of the Venezuelan Social Security Institute (IVSS).
According to a press release from the Ministry of Health, Alvarado is a surgeon. He held the Health portfolio during the Covid-19 pandemic, under the direction of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
He has also served as rector of the Hugo Chávez Frías University of Health Sciences, and Deputy Minister of Health Networks and Services in 2014, among other positions. In addition, it has promoted the birth of laws and affiliated entities as mechanisms to guarantee access to health for the Venezuelan people.
Alvarado assumes the IVSS at the historic moment when the institutions of the Venezuelan State guarantee the functioning of the republic, in the face of the imperial aggression of the United States against the Homeland.
