The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, assured that 80 percent of the resources for second community projects have been designated. “We are setting an example and the funds are deposited in the different communes and communal circuits of the city,” he said.
As reported by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the burgomaster indicated that next week the allocation of resources will reach 100 percent “so that this second project has the necessary resources for the people, in their territory, to exercise direct, participatory and leading democracy.”
He said that the communities of Caracas have a project bank “because when we go to popular meetings we are not going to say “such a thing is going to be done”, because it is the people who tell us what project we should execute.”
It is worth noting that National Popular Consultations (NCPs) are communal-scale electoral processes, which begin with the application of community projects designed to solve problems and needs present in the localities of the country designated under a Communal Circuit or Commune.
