Carnival celebration in Caracas will begin on February 14

The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, announced this Thursday that the Carnival festivities in the capital city will officially start on Saturday, February 14 and various recreational activities will be available for children, young people and older adults.
According to the newspaper Última Noticias, the announcement was made during the 117th edition of the radio program “Habla Caracas”, highlighting that the agenda seeks to promote the integration of all sectors of Caracas society.
In this regard, the Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism, María Elisa Domínguez, indicated that, in coordination between the Mayor's Office and the Government of the Capital District, they are preparing a program characterized mainly by artistic activities.
“These are holidays that are for the enjoyment of children and are marked by resilience and protests, where the people on the street will continue with the motto: We want our President and our First Lady,” he said.
From Saturday, February 14th to Tuesday, February 17th, there will be costume, song and poem contests.
There will also be a home run for baseball, softball, volleyball, dominoes, chess and field soccer.
Also, on Sunday the 16th, they will hold a 5k race starting at 9:00am, and a bike ride, starting at 2.00 pm, which will close on Paseo Los Próceres.
The mayor added that she will be rewarded for the protest messages carried by bicycles in repudiation of the kidnapping of the president and his wife. “The bike that carries the best message of endurance will win,” he said.
There will also be swimming pools in different parts of the city, beach routes from O' Leary Square, and recreational activities in Bolivar, Sucre, La Juventud and Los Maestros squares, as well as in Los Caobos Park and the boulevard of Sabana Grande.
