Poets, musicians and the general public will celebrate National Poetry Day and the one hundred and fifth anniversary of the birth of the iconic Venezuelan poet, Achiles Nazoa, on Saturday, May 17 with an Aragüeña Cantata, starting at 10:00 AM, in the pergola of the Casa de la Cultura de Maracay, located in the Santos Michelena Cultural Complex, Girardot municipality of the state of Aragua.

Attendees will be able to enjoy the performances of the renowned singer Yolanda Carmona “Hanoi”, and for the new generations, the outstanding young Camila Lugo, who with their unique voices will recreate lyrics by the local poet and other authors of the necessary song, accompanied by guitarists William Paz, Kachaki, and Alejandro Tinedo.

Fourteen poets and poetesses who live in the state of Aragua will add their voices to the celebration of the creative word: Emauris Bolívar, Emma Rodríguez, María Luisa Gómez, Emalida Viloria, Julia Liendo and Guillermo Cadrazco.

In the same way, the poets, facilitators of the Juan Calzadilla National School of Poetry will participate: Bartolomé Cavallo, Alexis Escalona Santana, Ninfa Monasterios Guevara, Marcos Veroes, Rafael Ortega, Henry Colmenares and Eleazar Marín.

May 17, 2019, was declared National Poetry Day, by decree of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, because this is the birthday of Achiles Nazoa, in order to honor his priceless legacy and promote national poetry.
