The minister of the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, awarded the Venezuelan singer-songwriter Cecilia Todd the Francisco de Miranda Order in her First “Generalissimo” Class, in recognition of her contribution to the cultural identity of Venezuela.

During the tribute at the Casa de la Libertad y la Cultura Ali Primera, in Caracas, Villegas highlighted the deep bond between the artist and the Venezuelan people.

“If anyone deserves the love of Venezuela, it's Cecilia Todd. We cannot pay you for everything you have given to this country, in terms of cultural identity, where you hear your song you hear the heart of Venezuela, the heartbeat of our people,” he said.

During his speech, Todd reaffirmed his commitment to traditional Venezuelan music. “We have always bet on our music, because it is very rich (...) and now more than ever, because, over the years, they have imposed many things on us that are not ours,” he said.

The tribute culminated with the official naming of his most recent record production, entitled Casi de Puro Soñarte, performed with petals and a traditional ritual that marked the closing of a day dedicated to celebrating his artistic legacy.
