The Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American Studies (CELARG) will open its doors until next Thursday, April 30, to welcome the VIII “Juan Bautista Plaza” Decolonial School, under the motto “Decolonizing History”, a space aimed at questioning colonial narratives and promoting critical views from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The activity is aimed at students,
researchers and the general public interested in critical thinking, with the purpose of contributing to
the rescue of the historical memory of the peoples of
the region from a liberating perspective, as reported by Venezolana de Televisión.
The coordinator of CELARG, Christiane
Valles, highlighted the relevance of the central theme of this edition. “This year the school has as its fundamental theme the
decolonization of history, a sustained effort made by the Bolivarian Revolution to review not only the paradigms from
the theoretical-philosophical point of view surrounding history, but also in relation to the subjects that star in history,” he said.
The meeting will be attended by international researchers such as Ramón Grosfoguel, Katya Colmenares and Karina Ochoa, together with Venezuelan specialists Lilia Ana Márquez Ugueto and Armando González Segovia.
