The Minister of Popular
Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, received this Monday the
ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Kingdom of Spain, Gladys
Gutiérrez, who was called for consultation, following the interventionist statements of the Spanish Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, who described
the constitutional mandate of President Nicolás Maduro
like “a dictatorship”.
Through his
official channel on the social network Telegram, Foreign Minister Gil explained that the meeting
with the diplomat was held with the objective of “analyzing the current
diplomatic situation and defining the actions to be followed in defense of Venezuelan sovereignty.”
These actions
come after the Government of the Iberian nation granted political asylum
to former extreme right candidate Edmundo González Urruti after negotiations
with the Venezuelan Executive, despite the fact that the leader has an
arrest warrant, issued 5 days earlier by the Public Ministry (MP), for the “alleged
commission of crimes of usurpation of office”.
In addition, the
representative of Venezuelan extremism is involved in the “forging of a public
document”, in relation to the electoral records of the presidential elections
of last July 28. He is also accused of allegedly
“inciting disobedience of laws”, “conspiracy”, “sabotage and damage to systems and association”.
Last Friday, September
13, Gil summoned the Spanish ambassador
accredited to Venezuela, Ramón Santo Martínez, to appear in his office, to appear in his office, to make it clear that the country
will not allow “any interventionist action by the Government of Spain in matters
that fall within the exclusive competence of Venezuelans”.
