Chancellor Gil: US uses veto to hinder ceasefire in Gaza

“Venezuela has denounced the complicity of the United States, which uses its veto to hinder a ceasefire in Gaza, while Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people,” wrote the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, through social networks.

In that regard, he indicated that on behalf of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, he participated in the High-Level International Conference on Palestine and the Two-State Solution, where he also condemned Israel's blockade of Gaza, “which prevents the entry of humanitarian aid in the midst of a serious hunger crisis.”

He stressed that once again, the United States (USA) cast a negative vote in the United Nations Security Council, on June 4, 2025, in relation to the draft resolution contained in the submitted document, which sought to demand a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, as well as to promote immediate humanitarian access in order to alleviate the hunger currently suffering of the population of Palestine.

He added that the US obstructs the action of the UN Security Council, “which constitutes a sign of complicity with Israel's policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territory. This new veto represents a green light to unleash more violence on the ground.”
