Yván Gil, Minister for Foreign Affairs, highlighted the massive participation of the People in the day of enlistment in the Bolivarian Militia convened by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
From Bolivar Square in Caracas, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister recalled that the Venezuelan people carry the blood of warriors who fought for their freedom, not only of the country but of almost an entire continent, defeating the most powerful empire of their time.
“That blood of liberators has been made millions today,” he said while emphasizing that this will is a ratification of the will of the People to defend their independence “which we conquered through struggle, no one gave them to us.”
“This attempt at aggression, this psychological war of North American imperialism, will be a new defeat for them, and our victory will be peace, the peace achieved by the mobilization of our people,” he said.
He ratified that “Venezuela is not alone” and highlighted the growing expressions of support from peoples and governments of the world for the cause of defending the country's peace.
“At the Amazon Summit, by unanimity, unilateral coercive measures have been condemned and the blockade against Venezuela has been condemned, and we also received the support of more than a thousand indigenous communities that attended this summit, demonstrating that Venezuela is not alone,” he said.
