The Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations (UN), Geng Shuang, said that the Government of the Asian nation expresses concern about the increase in tensions in the Red Sea.
“All parties involved must adhere to the general
direction of the political solution,” Geng said during the
briefing at the UN Council.
In this regard, he urged moderation and collaboration between all interested
parties to create a pleasant environment in the political process.
“We ask the parties involved to act with restraint and
refrain from actions that could exacerbate tensions,” Geng said, while stressing the need for peaceful navigation and
the
immediate cessation of hostilities affecting commercial shipping, according to a Xinhua press release.
