CICPC apprehended five people for the murder of a young man in Los Próceres

The general director of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), Douglas Rico, reported that five people were arrested for the murder of the young Luis Fernando Benítez that occurred in Los Próceres last Tuesday of Carnival.

According to information released by Rico, the clarification of the case was carried out by officers of the Homicide Investigations Division, who, after “exhaustive fieldwork and intelligence, arrested Josué David Gómez Andrade (18), Erick Alexander Gómez Álvarez (24), with records for possession of drugs, Yeiker Johel Ruiz Ruiz (20), Haylee Nicold Madriz Vielma (21) and, Jeickferson Yair Blanco Castro (19), with records for generic theft, for the atrocious murder of young Luis Fernando Benítez Medina (19)”.

Rico explained that the victim was “savagely” attacked during the culmination of the carnival activities, and was taken to the Doctor Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital, where he died due to the seriousness of the injuries, while adding that the case is still under investigation in order to locate the rest of the murderers.

In recent days, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, assigned Public Prosecutor's Office 40 of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas to investigate and punish these events, in which a group of individuals “brutally” assaulted Benítez.

“The young man was sharing with friends and family during the carnival festivities in that place, at which time the aggressors, participating in a game of “tanganas”, brutally attacked him, causing his death as a result of the beatings,” said the Prosecutor.
