Cinemateca Nacional announced Film Series for October

These activities offer a unique and enriching cinematic experience

The National Cinemateca Foundation (FCN), attached to the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC), invites the Venezuelan people to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of cinema with an exciting series of film series that will take place during the month of October in its theaters nationwide.

According to information from the Ministry for Culture, these activities offer a unique and enriching cinematographic experience, designed for all lovers of the seventh art.

In that sense, here we share the Outstanding Film Series for the month of October:

  • Film Series: Baseball on the Big Screen (available in all movie theaters)

A journey through the exciting world of baseball through the cinematographic lens. Available functions in Caracas: MBA room from 4 to 20, Margot Benacerraf room from 9 to 12, regional rooms: San Cristóbal, San Carlos from 23 to 24 and Tucupita room from 23 to 25 October. A cinema forum will be held on October 17 with special speakers.

  • Film Series: Surrealism, One Hundred Years of Freedom and Artistic Creativity

We will explore the impact of surrealism on cinema, a movement that has revolutionized the way we tell stories and represent images. Performances available in the Margot Benacerraf room from 2 to 11, San Cristóbal 10 and 11, San Carlos and Tucupita from October 10, 11, 17 and 18.

  • Film Series: The Dark Side of the Net

In a context where the internet and social networks are used as weapons of war, this cycle will present six films that examine the negative aspects of the digital world, addressing issues such as disinformation and division. Functions: San Carlos and Tucupita from 2 to 4, MBA room 30 and 31 October.

  • Film Series: Tribute to Iván Feo (1947-2024)

Starting October 9, we will pay tribute to renowned Venezuelan filmmaker Iván Feo with a special screening that will include his works “DOWNLOAD” (1974) and “PORTABLE COUNTRY” (1979). Feo is remembered for his significant contribution to Venezuelan cinema and his legacy endures in teaching and filmmaking. Special screening on October 16 with a cinema forum in the MBA room at 4:00pm. Magort Benacerraf Room from 16 to 18, Tucupita, San Carlos 9, 16 and 23, San Cristóbal October 9.

  • Film Series: Film Genres — The Terror: Diabolic Dolls (regional theatres only)

This series will present a selection of films that explore terror from a unique perspective, focusing on the disturbing relationship between children and their toys. Functions: San Cristóbal, San Carlos and Tucupita 30 and 31.

  • Special Film Series: Audiovisual Heritage Day (all theatres)

We celebrate World Audiovisual Heritage Day with a special cycle in all our Cinemateca rooms, highlighting the importance of preserving and valuing our cinematographic legacy. Caracas functions: MBA on October 30, an activity with cinematography recovered by the Cinemateca and a discussion with experts are scheduled. Regional functions: San Carlos, San Cristóbal and Tucupita October 25.

  • Premiere at the National Cinema

The National Cinemateca Foundation, which has been the home of cinema for 58 years, gives new filmmakers the opportunity to screen their works and see them on the big screen. For October we will have 3 releases of short and feature films.

The FCN invites all film and culture lovers to enjoy these screenings that will not only entertain, but will also enrich knowledge about the seventh art.
