The National Autonomous
Cinematography Center (CNAC) held a new day of the Technical Board of
Venezuelan Cinema, with the objective of advancing the construction of a
consensus policy within the framework of the National Cinematography Act (LCN), aimed at
strengthening mechanisms to support national productions.
The
meeting was led by the president of the CNAC, Román Chamorro, together with the strategic general manager, Evelyn Márquez, and
the oversight manager, Alfonso Rangel.
In addition, representatives of the
film industry also participated, including Néstor Villalobos, director of the film “Believe
or Die”; as well as delegates from the Gran Cine Circuit and the country's main exhibition
chains: Cines Unidos, CINEX and SuperCines.
During the meeting, the
CNAC presented a balance sheet of the film “Believe or Die”, which has registered an
attendance of 12,004 spectators to date. At the same time, director Néstor
Villalobos presented promotional strategies that include visits to
universities, communities and private screenings to expand the film's reach.
Movie theater representatives expressed willingness to
evaluate the implementation of the “agreed functions” modality, a scheme
that allows for coordination between exhibitors, distributors and filmmakers
to facilitate public access to national productions, taking as a reference recent
experiences in the state of Nueva Esparta.
Finally, the president of the CNAC reaffirmed the institutional commitment to strengthen the exhibition of Venezuelan cinema in the country, through agreements with the private sector and the support of the State, in order to expand the circulation of national content.
